Job Title: ForwarderOperator                                       Status: RFT

SCOPE OF WORK:

This position is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the forwarder used to load/unload, haul, and move logs/bolts throughout the mill yard.

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the following:

1.Accurately identify log species on the landing for inventory purposes

2. Communicate daily with the log yard supervisor to coordinate First-in, First-out procedures with MTE Sawlogs and Boltwood

3. Required to unload and load log trucks that do not have a self-loader

4. Perform light maintenance and repair of log loading machinery and equipment in tandem with the machine shop

5. Clean Machinery at the end of every workweek. (Power-wash excessive grease, grime, and dust off machine to monitor for leaks or abnormalities)

6.Maintain a professional relationship with drivers, contractors, and forest product customers

7.Uphold a clean work environment in your machine and log yard (ex. Removing bark, lumber debris, and garbage during down time)

8. Attend school/training that will increase overall knowledge of the log landing operation

9. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in extreme hot, cold, noisy, dusty work environment. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Must wear all appropriate safety apparel and equipment and comply with all safety policies and practices of MTE.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalency and requires up to 3 months experience in operating heavy equipment.  Valid heavy equipment certification is preferable, or must attain heavy equipment certification thru MTE within 1st year of employment. Must possess good work ethic with excellent work attendance and be a team player.
