JOB TITLE: Grader Tally Worker

SUPERVISOR: Sawmill Operations Manager

STATUS: RFT

 

SCOPE OF WORK:

Responsible for inspecting and assigning grade to all lumber to maximize volume and value

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must of the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the following;

1. Understanding of lumber species, softwood and hardwood grades and grading rules according to NHLA and NELMA

2. Safe lifting and operating practices

3. Use time efficiently; downtime is clean-up time

4. Work in a fast paced environment

5. Communicate with supervisor and sawmill supervisor if lumber being produced is unsatisfactory

6. Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area

7. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in extreme hot, cold, noisy, dusty work environment. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Must wear all appropriate safety apparel and equipment and comply with all safety policies and practices of MTE.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year (plus) experience in lumber grading. Must have graduated from the National Hardwood Lumber Grading School. Must have good work ethic and excellent work attendance and be a team player
