JOB TITLE: Skilled Utility Worker
SUPERVISOR: Maintenance Supervisor

SCOPE OF WORK:
Responsible for serving as replacement operator for all skilled production machine operator positions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the following:
1. Ability to serve as replacement worker for any skilled manufacturing machine position. Operates any of the following equipment when needed: debarker, headrig, resaw, edger, trimmer, planer, chipper, molder, stacker, front end loader, Timbco and other log yard heavy equipment.
2. Works with daily supervisor for work orders throughout the plant
3. Sawmill production operations and related equipment
4. Lock-out/ Tag-out procedures
5. Maintenance of stationary equipment, mobile equipment, etc.
6. Safe forklift operation
7. Basic carpentry
8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in fast paced, hot, cold, noisy, dusty industrial environment with attention to MTE safety practices and policies. Required to wear the necessary safety protection and equipment provided by MTE.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalency and at least two (plus) years' combined experience in the operation and maintenance of a wide range of sawmill machinery and related equipment. Basic knowledge of lumber grades is preferred. Completion of hardwood and softwood lumber grading short course is desirable. Valid heavy equipment certification is preferable, or must attain heavy equipment certification within one year. Must possess good work ethic with excellent work attendance and be a team player.
