SCOPE OF WORK:
To operate commercial motor vehicle to transport freight in inter or intra state commerce between all delivery points. Over-The-Road drivers are given the responsibility of delivering all freight in a safe and prompt manner through the use of a tractor-trailer. OTR drivers also have the duty to engage with our customers and clients in a courteous and professional manner. Operate vehicle in compliance with company rules and all applicable state and federal regulations, and in accordance with accepted principles of safe driving.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the following;
1. Follow all rules and regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation, as determined in the current copy of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations handbook
2. Deliver loaded tractor trailer of wood products to customer locations in a safe and timely manner as directed by daily manifest, while abiding to all DOT regulations and local law as they apply
3. Assist with loading and unloading of product and verify load and destination is correct
4. Light truck maintenance and daily pre-inspection, and post inspection responsibilities
5. Maintain compliance with state and federal regulation including driver's logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, shipment loads, wait time, scales, weather conditions and etc
6. Responsible for all equipment used, including materials and electronics within the tractor and trailer and goods shipped
7. Work with Maintenance Dept. and supervisor to help mechanics with repairs on any possible problem
8. Report all accidents/citations to your supervisor providing all administrative documentation immediately
9. Perform physical requirements of the position
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in fast paced, hot, cold, noisy, dusty environments. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Must wear all appropriate safety apparel and equipment and comply with all safety policies and practices MTE.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of nine (9) months of verifiable driving experience within the last seven (7) years' operating a vehicle requiring a Commercial Driver's License Class. CDL certification through accredited school is preferred. Must be 21 years of age. Must successfully complete a physical, and background check, which will include, criminal history and motor vehicle record review. MVR must meet company insurance standards. Must have good work ethic with excellent work attendance and be a team player
